Ordinance Enforcement Officer Responsibilities

The Ordinance Enforcement Officer is responsible for carrying out and supporting the enforcement of township ordinances. Duties include:

  • Investigating ordinance violations
  • Serving notices of violation
  • Issuing appearance tickets as authorized under Chapter 4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act
  • Appearing in court or other judicial proceedings to assist in prosecuting ordinance violators
  • Performing other ordinance enforcement duties as delegated by the Township Board or assigned by the Township Attorney
